Primary Purpose:
Provide support for campuses with regards to behavior management, training, and documentation for students with behavioral problems.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for level assigned
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas both verbally and in writing
Ability to solve complex problems individually
Ability to work individually and collaboratively within a team atmosphere
Knowledge of effective classroom management and behavior and social skill intervention techniques
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Proficient in using Windows Operating System as well as Microsoft Office Application (Microsoft, Work Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience:
Experience working with students including implementing behavior management strategies
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional and Program Management
- Develop functional behavior assessments and create behavior intervention plans (if warranted) for general education.
- Work with campus team to assist and apply appropriate strategies and interventions for students according to district procedures.
- Implementation of, and support to classroom teachers with, behavior intervention plan and in managing behaviorally disruptive students.
- Consult with teachers and relevant staff concerning the educational needs of students.
- Model behavioral strategies in classroom and provide follow up coaching for staff.
- Collaborate with campus administration to develop multi-faceted training initiative to include-MTSS, classroom management, RDA, and Tier 3 Behavior Programs.
- Collaborate with campus teachers to expand their skills in classroom management.
- Develop and maintain effective individual and group relationships with students and parents.
- Comply with all district and local campus routine and regulations.
- Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment.
- Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors.
- Effectively communicate with colleagues, students and parents.
- Provide professional development as necessary to support campus goals and vision.
Staff Development
- Support campus professional development on the implementation of behavior plans, effectiveness of PBIS, classroom management, and finding of the functional behavior assessment.
- Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
- Stress confidentiality to staff and parents regarding students with behavioral needs.
